简介：Derivation is our series of Barrel-Aged Imperial Stouts in which we brew several recipes, age them in a variety of barrels and blend them before bottling to add depth and structure to this massive style of beer.
Bottle. Ink-black and oil-thick, with a small blanket of cinnamon-colored head that dissipates quickly. Lots to pick apart in the aroma: maple, pork, graham cracker, toasted marshmallows, milk chocolate. A gentle tug of rye whiskey at the nose’s bottom edge. The flavor combines all this with dark fruit depth--cherry, raisin, prune. Caramelized marshmallow is again the leader, though vinous oak is more prominent and a lovely meaty smokiness permeates the whole affair. Sugars coat the tongue from start to finish, though torched malt bitterness does rise to provide some semblance of balance long after the swallow. Thick and rich, a sipper for sharing with friends--really good friends.2016-06-03 19:53:01
